Mumbai, Aug 28: 800 aspiring delegates from India, Nepal, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka representing 120 countries resolved to find the best way towards peace and progress through dialogue and discussions at the Indian Model United Nations (INMUN) organized by the Ryan International Group of Institutions from August 23 to August 25 at SCOPE Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.
The INMUN Conference, hosted by the Ryan Group is an initiative of founder chairman, Dr Augustine F Pinto and the managing director, Grace Pinto.
With its theme ‘For a Better World’, the conference provided a platform to collaborate and network to overcome differences and conflict in order to resolve modern-day problems of socio-political and economic dimensions.
The world press looked into the action of the committees that is 1st, 2nd and 3rd Committee, UN Security Council, ECOSOC, UNDP and UN Habitat and reported their proceedings in the INMUN Express, a newspaper that was circulated to the delegates on all three days of the conference.
The delegates discussed and argued over various agendas like militarization of borders, developing strategies to avoid currency disputes, sustainable Mobility for African cities, Indian Ocean piracy issue, impact of toxic dumping on food resources, social protection for people living with HIV, improving access to safe water and several other burning topics.
On the second day the delegates interacted with Rahul Gandhi, Secretary General, AICC and MP (Amethi).
This cherish-able moment was etched in the minds of all those who interacted with him along with Grace Pinto, and Ryan Pinto, CEO, professor M M Pant, educationist, Peter Vrooman, press attaché and embassy spokes person, embassy of USA, G Balasubramaniam, former director, Academics CBSE, DK Dadoo, joint secretary, Industry and Commerce addressed the delegates and glorified their efforts at the conference.

The closing ceremony was held at Kamani Auditorium amidst the presence of Chief Guest Sandeep Dikshit IAS, MP East Delhi, who felicitated the winners of various awards and honours at INMUN 2012. The ceremony was also witnessed by several other eminent guests who included Lieutenant General Sunit Kumar, DGIS, Rao Tularam Marg, IHQ of MOD (Army), Mahishini Colonne, deputy high Commissioner of Sri Lanka, Dr JK Patel, executive director, Foreign Policy Research Institute, Sushma Malik, assistant director (Schools), National Accredition Board for Education and Training.
Among the outstanding achievements of the conference, the best delegation awards were taken by Ryan International School, Mayur Vihar for representing USA, DPS, Mathura Road for representing Pakistan, Ryan International School, Vasant Kunj for representing Russian Federation and Bishop’s Cotton School, Bangalore for representing France, St Lawrence High School, Borivli(W) won the best country profile for Sri-Lanka.
INMUN Conference remains to be an excellent experience for students to understand international challenges and attempt to usher in a new world order.
