Mangalore, Oct 12: In the wake of the recent hikes in LPG and other essential commodities, BJP Mahila Morcha staged a protest in front of the DC office here on Friday October 11.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Padmanabha Kottari, BJP district president, Kumble Sunder Rao, former MLA, Amita Kala, deputy mayor, K T Shailaja Bhat, former zilla panchayat president, Pulasya Rai, district president of BJP Mahila Morcha, Suman Sharan, district chief secretary and Shashiprabha led the protest.

Addressing the gathering, Nalin Kumar blamed the UPA government, which he said is mainly responsible for the hike in LPG, other fuels and essential commodities. He lauded BJP Mahila Morcha for taking up this brave and necessary step to fight for their rights.

"Due to the increase in prices of essential commodities, people belonging to the poor and the middle class families are facing a tough time," he said.

"UPA is corrupt from top to bottom and is encouraging corruption. Under their rule the entire UPA administration is not efficient in performing its duties," he added.

Nalin praised former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government where essential commodities were given at subsidized rates. "It was he who initiated gas supply to all rural areas," he said.

Nalin said that by increasing the prices of essential commodities, Congress party itself is 'commiting suicide'. "I am sure NDA government will soon rule the country," he said.

On Sonia Gandhi's visit to the city, he said that her rule will not work here.

Pulasya Rai, district president of BJP Mahila Morcha in her address said that Congress government is unfit to continue in power. She asked the people to wake up and work towards the removal of the government. "Only then the prices of essential commodities will come down," she added.

"Instead of wiping tears of the poor people, they are inviting curses on themselves by increasing the prices," she said, adding that if the government cannot control inflation, then it is better it steps down.

Hundreds of women participated in the protest shouting slogans against the UPA government.

Prem Anand Shetty, MT Salian, president of Kulai, Bhaskar I, Shakila Kava, Vedavathi, Rajni Dugganna, former mayor, Shakuntala D Karkera, Geetha Nayak, Sarojini Kotian, Prasanna Ravi among others were present.

Mr. Amit & Mr. Rajesh K Hegde

Why blame UPA alone when State Govt is also equally responsible for price rise ???

Petrol, Diesel, Gas prices go up when international prices go up. India imports almost 75% of its crude requirements. Someone need to pay for it. Govt can't sell you at fixed rates.

Why Reliance & Essar do not sell fuel at their Petrol Pumps ??? Ask them !!!

Travel to Europe, Africa where fuel prices change so frequently. Few countries even daily.

Higher crude prices has a cascading effect on Indian Rupee which crashed like nine pins when fiscal deficit is rising.

Why can't Karnataka's BJP Govt reduce petrol prices like Goa BJP Govt ?

Why can't states tax agricultural land sales (except genuine farmers) which is the main reason for black money & price rise as central govt has no right to tax it. (Income Tax on Agricultural Land) This un accounted money is inflating land prices & contributing for inflation.

Despite all odds like - Co-aliation pressure, global slowdown, rising crude prices, depreciating rupee, domestic black money UPA has done an excellant job like :

Cheapest Telecom rates in the world.

    Subsidised Diesel, Petrol, Gas etc.

Cheapest railway fares despite fuel price hike .

Projects like Metro Rail, National Highways, JNURM Buses, Bus Stations etc.

    Rural Employment Guarantee Schemes.

    Always get educated & talk.

Don't act like "GUMPINALLY GOVINDA" or "YAARADO DUDDU..ELLAMMANA JAATRE"

GST will bring prices down by almost 20-30% within 3 years. Why BJP is opposing it despite it being the best tool to reduce multi point taxes in India ?

Be Practical....Keep politics last...Last but not least...Get educated..Travel different states within India & Countries outside India..

UPA should stop all subsidies for the LPG because most of the LPG used for commercial purpose. Before protesting people should think what state government report about LPG.according to state government report ruled by BJP 6 LPG cylinder more then enough for the poor family.so state government not going give extra 3 LPG like otherstate ruled by Congess.

IF SUSHMA HAS GOT ANY GUTS SHE SHOULD PROTEST IN PARLIAMENT ABOUT PRICE HIKE AND NOT ON THE STREETS ? SHE HAS NO OTHER WORK. BJP NAME AS BHARATIA FRSTRATION PARTY. BJP JUST WANTS TO PASS TIME THAT IS WHY THEY ARE CREATING FOOLISHNESS ON ROADS AND DISTURB PUBLIC TRANSPORT. THERE IS NO USE OF ALL THESE MORCHAS OR PROTESTS. WITH THE LADIES, THE HIJADA ARUN JAITLEY. THEY BOTH ARE GOOD AS OPPOSITION LEADERS ON STREETS AND NOT IN PARLIMENT.

Hats off to our AKKAS for protesting against price hike. Whole Karnataka should get inspired from Mangalore women.

Women from all community are here. This shows everyone is upset over congress led UNDER PROGRESSIVE ALLIANCE (UPA) headed by Mr. Under Achiever.

UPA is looting from common man's pocket by hiking the prices of LPG and other essential commodities.

The women should protest against CORRUPTION and EVILS lady Sonia's visit to Mangalore on Oct 18th.

    NARIMANIYARA HORATAKKE Jai... Jai Hind.
