Mangalore: Muscat Tragedy - Lancelot D'Souza Laid to Rest

Mangalore, Jan 2: The last rites of Lancelot D'Souza, who passed away in a tragic incident at Muscat on December 23, were held at St Rita Church, Cascia here on Wednesay January 2.

A sea of mourners including family members, relatives, friends, well-wishers and public gathered joined in to bid their final adieu to Lancelot.

Parish priest Fr Vincent Menezes conducted the funeral Mass.

Lancelot's nephew Sharun, who met a similar fate in the same incident, will be laid to rest in the evening at Ranipura Church.

Their bodies were flown into the city on Saturday  December 29 night.

Lancelot D’Souza (40), resident of Jeppu-Bappal and Sharun D’Souza (26), resident of Ranipura died of asphyxiation in their room in Muscat on December 23. They were working at a construction site in Muscat and had taken accomodation within the premises along with two others.

Sharun's brother Sachith who was also staying with him and working for the same firm luckily escaped the tragedy.

Lancelot leaves behind his wife, Gracy D’Souza and two children Samantha and Shalomi.

Sharun is survived by his father, Lawrence D’Souza, mother Mary D’Souza, sister Sunitha D’Souza and brother Sachith and Sanil.

    Were is our Janna? From Mangalore he went Shirva to spoke media. within city he cant go a poor guys house. Oscar will come if there is ribbon cutting function. both Bishops must think about this.

    Oscar is one of the worst politicians i have seen in my lifetime. He dint attend this because thisn incident didnt get as much media attention as that of Jacintha and they knew they would not get a chance to pose.
