Mangalore, Jan 16: "Often the society treats the prisoners as criminals even after they are set free after completing their jail-term. Here one should remember well that every prisoner need not be a criminal. Even a criminal has the will to change his/her life and mend his/her ways. There is nothing static in this world and change is the mantra of this world. With proper guidance, care and concern even the criminals would amend their ways and turn back to the track. Once they are made to understand that what they have been doing and the path they have been trudging is wrong, they would surely turn back," said district Congress vice president and notary Ivan D'Souza.
He was speaking from the presidential chair of the "Awareness and Informative Seminar" held in the district jail here recently. The awareness seminar was about the impact of alcohol and drugs on human beings and was organized by Jana Jagruti Vedike here.
The seminar was inaugurated by Jain Travels proprietor Ratnakar Jainy lighting the lamp.
Manjunath, inspector, crime branch, Barke police station, B Suresh, jail superintendent and Vardhaman, a noted businessman were the chief guests of the occasion.
