Dubai: 12-year-old Cherize fights for life - Please help

Daijiworld Media Network - Dubai

Dubai, Sep 4: Cherize, a little angel admitted in Dubai hospital, is struggling for her life. The 12-year-old was diagnosed with Down Syndrome and celebral palsy, and though she was a bubbly child despite her limitations, she is in need of ventilator support now.

Daughter of Glenn and Arabelle Shekri, Cherize has an elder brother Steve who is studying in school. Glenn is the sole bread winner of the family as Arabelle stays in hospital with her daughter round the clock.

Cherize has been in Dubai Hospital since her admission in January this year. The parents are faced with a mounting hospital bill in excess of Dirhams 400,500 and are unable to pay.

According to the medical report from the hospital, she was admitted in January after suffering from breathlessness and unconsciousness. Since admission she has been on ventilator support.

Cherize underwent a surgery for her breathing problem medically known as C1 and C2 sublaxation of the spinal cord in February and she has not been able to be wean off from the ventilator. Hence, she now needs the support of the ventilator which costs approximately Dirhams 150,000. She has earlier undergone surgeries for colostomy and open heart.

Doctors tried weaning her off the ventilator but were not able to do so. Cherize hence needs the support of the ventilator lifelong and the family will have to incur an additional cost monthly upto Dirhams 4000 for changing of tubing in Cathether mount and filters which have to be changed every 3 days.

Cherize has been in the surgical ICU for more than five months and is now in step down ICU‎ for over two-and-a-half months. This is her eighth month in hospital. The parents have a billing of approximately Dirhams 500,000 but bearing in mind the child is still in the hospital, the figure may rise.

Apart from the treatment costs, the parents are also looking to bring Cherize to India for a second opinion and need financial assistance to do so.

Individuals, philanthropists, and organizations and others are requested to help Cherize and her parents in any way they can.

Although I am not a Doctor...I always have a feeling...in many of the cases Doctor's are trying to learn more at the cost of the Patient....!!!!???? I do not mind if they want to learn at their own expense. But do not kill the patient party for your experience...Please.

many of us don't thank the divine enough for giving us wonderful children.
And children are true joy/happiness in life.

Cherize needs not only sympathy, prayers and good wishes but also some monetary help, that would help her parents take care of her expenses.

lets help them. I will be sending my contribution to their account.

I sympathize with her condition & suffering, though all parents want their kids to live & fight till the end, God's ways are beyond our thinking.
If that kid doesn't have hope of recovery, then I think it's best to have Faith in God's Will.
    May God Bless her.
