Dubai, Sep 17 : The Emirates Pangalites, UAE celebrated their Decennial Monthi Feasth on Friday, 13th September 2013 at the party hall, Bangalore Empire Restaurant, Karama, Dubai.
The highlight of the celebrations was the Mother Mary’s grotto prepared by Ignatius Alva and group which added homely atmosphere to the celebration as per the tradition back home.
Arround 130 enthusiastic Pangalites with their relatives and friends gathered to celebrate the Monthi feast.
Mr. Shohan castelino and Andrea Coutinho took charge of the program and passionately recounted the old memories back home monthi feast celebrations with 9 days novena followed by showering variety of flowers to the Mother Mary’s Grotto.
The traditional celebration commenced with hyms, bajanas, prayer dance by Vedhisha and Viola, gospel reading followed by a procession by children, young and elders while singing the hymns ‘Sakkad Sangatha Mellyam and Moriyek Hogolsiam’.
The newly married couple of Pangla, Clayton and Andria , Eldrin and Preema brought the new grain (Konsi) which was received by Mrs. Hilda Pinto and William Mathias as a symbolic tradition of back home. Novem mixed with Milk was then served to all.
Emirates Pangalites President Mr. Clevin D’Souza gave a warm welcome to the guest of honor Mr. Joseph Mathias of Merit Freight and Mr. Dayan D’Souza of Daiji Dubai and all the guests.
On behalf of the guests Mr. Joseph Mathias explained the significance of Monthi feast and briefly described how this Feast was celebrated during the childhood days. He also stressed on the importance of Mother in everybody’s life.
Entertainment followed soon after by Clevin, Ashwin, Joel, Sunil, Vinay presenting comedy skits, Vidisha, Viola, Simon, Cyan presented the Hindi Mix dances. Demitra castelino entertained crowd with English songs.
Past president Mr. Joel Quadras briefed about the upcoming events like Domestic Workers Day and Cricket tournament on 13th December 2013 at Zabeel park ground.
Various spot games were efficiently conducted by Joel. A traditional vegetarian meal and vorn was served to all on banana leaves by Bangalore Empire hotel. The program was concluded by a game of full house tombola and vote of thanks by Secretary Ms. Veena Alva.
