Mangalore, Mar 2: Jeevan Pais (33), son of Joseph Pais of Kottar Chowki, Mangalore, the owner of the vehicle, Chandrashekhar Shetty (39) son of Madhava Shetty of Adyar Mangalore and Subhash Rai (32) son of Seenappa Rai of Bappalige-Puttur who were arrested by Anti Rowdy Squad at Tumbe on February 6 for possessing revolver have now been granted bail by the district Sessions Court on Wednesday March 1.

The Anti Rowdy Squad police had arrested the trio when they had found a short barrel gun and a revolver in the Maruti car in which the three were travelling on February 6.

However, Anasuya, wife of the accused Chandrashekhar had appealed to the court saying that the police had arrested the three on January 30 and kept them in the police custody illegally.  Taking this appeal into consideration, the court had ordered the district SP to produce the accused in court if they were already under police custody.

Accordingly, they were handed over to the Bantwal rural police on the same evening before being produced before the court.

Having taken all these into account, the district Sessions Court has now granted them bail.
