Soumya walks again - Says big 'THANK YOU' to Daijiworld readers

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, Oct 3: Once again, daijiworld readers have come forward with plenty of enthusiasm and generosity for a noble cause, proving yet again that humanity does indeed exist.

On Thursday September 19 morning, daijiworld put up an appeal to help Soumya, a B Ed graduate, daughter of noted Tulu theatre artist the late Mahesh Shaktinagar of Cha Parka troupe. Daijiworld's Brijesh Garodi met the family and learnt that Soumya was diagnosed RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) positive, and had to undergo surgery without delay. She needed Rs 2,40,000 for the operation, out of which Rs 80,000 was collected with the help of generous donors. For the remaining amount, the family requested daijiworld for assistance.

And as always, the readers responded to the appeal instantly by pledging their support to the cause. Rs 1.8 lac was assured within four hours of the appeal going online. Even after the appeal was officially closed, the help kept pouring in, and altogether Rs 2.06 lac has been deposited in her account until September end.

Soon after the amount was assured by daijiworld readers, Soumya underwent surgery. Her surgery has turned out to be successful, and within 6 months she will be able to walk normally again, says ortho surgeon Dr Mahesh K who performed the operation.

Soumya and her mother Kusuma have heartily thanked the readers of daijiworld for their timely help which enabled her to overcome her health condition.

"I was bedridden and since I lost my father, only my mother and younger sister have been there to support. I am very grateful and happy that because of daijiworld readers I am able to stand on my own feet now, and doctor says I will be walking normally again in just six months," said an emotional Soumya.

We at daijiworld profusely thank each and every person who has helped Soumya financially and prayed for her recovery. Your support and faith in us has lighted up yet another life and put a smile on a young face.

PRESIDENT AND MEMBERS OF LIONS CLUB MANGALORE MILAGRES WERE FIRST ONE TO IDENTIFY THIS GIRL FROM SHAKTINAGAR AND OFFERED ASSISTANCE TILL SHE CAME BACK FROM HOSPITAL. SHE CAME WITH THE HELP OF TWO PEOPLE TO OUR PROGRAMME TO RECEIVE A CHEQUE IN JULY 2013 BUT WHEN WE WENT TO SEE HER IN MANGALORE NURSING HOME SHE PROMISED TO WALK ALONE TO THE DIAS ON DECEMBER 21, 2013 (ON THE DAY OF OUR GOVERNORS VISIT). NOW SHE REQUIRES PRAYERS AND MONEY AND OFCOURSE THERE IS HARDWORK INVOLVED. OUR CLUB WILL KEEP A CLOSE WATCH ON THIS FAMILY UNTIL SHE WALKS FREELY. THANKS DAIJI ANYWAY. YOU ARE A SOURCE OF INSPIRATION IN DISTRESS.

She must need good physical therapy advice for bending her knee joints as well as strengthening muscles around her knee.
Without proper therapy (after post op.), it's hard to achieve set goals in a scheduled period.

Heartiest gratitude to Daiji readers, owners, staff and all those who were involved in organizing this timely help and resurrect the young woman back into normal life. I don't think any could possibly be adequate to express one's feeling of gratitude for identifying the needy and making appeal and organizing the required funds for treatment. One cannot imagine a better noble work than what Daijiworld is doing and we always pray to God and wish JIYO HAJARO SAAL
