Karkala, Oct 3: Taluk office staff at Karkala took brooms in their hands instead of usual pens on the day of Gandhi Jayanti.
Such was the way they celebrated Gandhi Jayanti in the taluk office, that they opted to clean their offices and became an example to the society on October 2.
The staff were busy cleaning both outside and inside their offices after the Gandhi Jayanti programme at 10 am.
Tahsildar set the cleaning in motion by taking a broom and sweeping the outside. Other staff followed him. There was no question of status or prestige. Women led the cleaning of the fans, sweeping the rooms, removing spider’s webs etc. Men went to remove weeds, plastic, papers and gutka packets outside. The management of town municipal council encouraged the work.
