Online art auction on World Sight Day

New Delhi, Oct 7 (IANS): Works of prominent Indian artists will go under the hammer in an online auction on World Sight Day Oct 10.

The brilliant pieces of M.F. Hussain, S.H. Raza, F.N. Souza, Akbar Padamsee, Anjolie Ela Menon, and Paresh Maity will be offered for sale.

"Art for Sight" is an online art auction to raise funds for the Standard Chartered bank's global programme, "Seeing is Believing" that helps tackle preventable and curable blindness.

The bank has partnered with AstaGuru.com, an online auction house and over 150 works from contemporary, modern and new artists will be up for sale between October 10 and 11.

"We believe with wealth comes responsibility. There are 45 million blind people in the world and in 80 percent blindness is avoidable, preventable or treatable," said bank official Sanjeeb Chaudhuri Monday.

The in-house auction is open for clients in priority banking, SME banking, high-end card customers and senior leadership team.
