Slovakia to prepare for joint bid of 2022 Winter Olympics

Bratislava (Slovakia), Oct 31 (IANS): The Slovak government approved a report on the progress of its joint bid with Poland to host the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Krakow, Poland.

The bid's preparations will spend approximately 481,000 euros (about $673,000) by the end of July 2015, reports Xinhua.

According to the report Wednesday, as much as 40 percent of all the expenditure will go to services relating to the preparatory work, such as analyses, expert studies and assessment work. Another 35 percent will go on travelling expenses and expenditures associated with attending various meetings.

The project won't entail any demanding construction work at sporting venues and stadia.

Slovakia made the final decision to bid for hosting the Winter Olympic Games at a joint session of a Polish-Slovak committee commissioned to draw up the bid in Demanovska Dolina, Slovakia, in August.

Krakow is expected to announce its official bid to jointly host the Winter Olympics with Slovakia Nov 14 and to submit the bid in March 2014.
