Kuwait, Apr 30: Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA), premiere Mangalorean Association in Kuwait, created history on Thursday 27th April ’06, as they celebrated the Sacrament of the First Holy Communion of its members' children for the first time in Kuwait. The celebration was held at ICSK auditorium, Amman street, Salmiya from 7:30 pm onwards.

Although there was only one entry this time, there was no shortage of entertainment as the guests and KCWA members thoroughly enjoyed the party. The first child to celebrate First communion with KCWA is Travis Menezes, son of KCWA member Mr. Vincent and Mrs. Theresa Menezes.

Various games for children and adults along with many spot prizes were organized by KCWA members. Rudy D’souza compered the event to perfection along with Shareen Sequiera. Ida D’Silva proposed the toast. Fr. Melwyn D’Cunha presented a memento on behalf of KCWA to Travis along with President Stephan Machado. Fr. Melwyn in his address congratulated the child and also KCWA for organizing such a community celebration which is beneficial to members and society as a whole and called upon other members to join such celebrations in future. Ida D’Silva and Sunitha D’Silva conducted the games.

Allen, Joylin and Lancy joined with Kiran for some live singing as all guests danced non-stop. DJ Flames played some lively numbers as MC announced various spot prizes. Prathima D’Souza led grace before meals. Snacks, Refreshments and Dinner were served by Delhi Darbar Restaurant. The party was concluded at 11:30 pm.

As a part of community awareness and to emphasize that Kuwait Canara Welfare Association serves and promotes community welfare, KCWA had taken a decision earlier to hold community celebration of First Holy Communion of its members’ children every year.

Apart from its motto “providing primary education for poor children”, KCWA always strives to hold various schemes and activities for the benefit of its members and their children.
