Eight bird flu cases found in China


Beijing, Jan 29 (IANS): Eight new human H7N9 cases were reported in three provinces of China Tuesday, authorities said.

The Zhejiang province reported four new cases -- a 43-year-old woman in Hangzhou, an 81-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman in Huzhou, and a 57-year-old man in Ningbo City, Xinhua quoted provincial health and family planning commission.

The new cases raised the number of infections in the province this year to 53.

Three new cases of women aged 43, 41, and 31 were reported in Shenzhen, a major city in Guangdong province.

A case of a 53-year-old man was reported in Jiangsu province's Huai'an city.

According to the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, H7N9 bird flu has killed 19 in China this year. The total number of human infections reached 96 as of Monday.
