Mumbai, Mar 11: St Joseph’s Konkani Welfare Association, Mira Road, organized a blood donation camp in association with Bhakti Vedanta Hospital, Mira Road (E), and Sarala Blood Bank, on Sunday March 9 at Infant Jesus Hall of St Joseph’s Church, Mira Road.

Fr Dominic Vas, parish priest and spiritual director of the Association inaugurated the camp with a prayer.  Speaking on the occasion, he said that in this season of Lent, all Christ’s faithful are obliged to do penance in their own way.  He sought God’s abundant blessings on the donors.  He gave a call to all to participate generously in the blood donation camp and save the lives of the sick and suffering.

Hundreds of people queued patiently to donate blood from 8 am to 2.30 pm. After the medical check-up, 172 people were found eligible to donate blood and did so. Although the registration was stopped at 12.30, the queue was so long that the last donor was seen at 2.30 pm.

John Crasta, president, St Joseph’s Konkani Welfare Association, welcomed the donors and Arun Noronha, secretary, St Joseph’s Konkani Welfare Association, thanked the team of Sarala Blood Bank and the blood donors.
