Bangladesh opposition leader denied bail


Dhaka, March 27 (IANS): Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the acting secretary general of Bangladesh's main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), was Thursday denied bail in two cases of arson.

Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rezaul Karim, however, granted him bail in a case relating to the killing of a police constable.

A hearing was held on all the three cases, bdnews24.com reported.

Fakhrul had secured bail from the High Court for eight weeks in all the three cases Jan 20.
