Mangalore, Jun 18: The issue of eviction of petty shops conducting trade on the footpaths of Mangalore put the first citizen of the city and the commissioner on loggerheads with each other. The latter has been given a gun man for security.

On June 14 when the eviction was under progress Mayor Ashraf stopped the operation and what followed became the talk of the town.

Following the move by MCC commissioner Chandrappa to register a complaint that he was verbally abused by the mayor, the Pandeshwar police have now sought the help from the district court.

According to sources the Pandeshwar police have written to the court seeking permission to file a complaint against the mayor. However if the court grants the permission, it is likely that section 504 will be registered against the Ashraf.

On the other hand the police security given to the commissioner has raised several questions on the administration. If the commissioner has threat from the mayor, how will the wheels of good governance progress? is the common concern expressed.
