Udupi, Jun 22: Every change in nature’s ways does have an influence on humans. The nature poet William Wordsworth could not but put them into words. While the tsunami made several poets pen down the nature’s fury into a thought provoking poem, many-an-events of daily life could make one a philosopher or even a poet.
In the rainy season, if the showers from above cease, Life below is sure to be affected. The cry of a man whose faith is in the goodness of God goes such
“Our dear trustful God
The creator of the world from you is our birth
We, your creatures down on our knees Lord
Plead you to send down rain on earth.”
The region welcomed the monsoons with delight. But the hide and seek has put people into trouble. It rains non-stop for days and the God of Rain closes his heavenly doors for days. The supplications go up along with praise to the mighty God.
On rich and the poor alike rain You pour
You wet the land bringing joy to the grower
We see the quickness of the lightning and thunder roar
Send us rain, open the heavens door.
Down if it pours, the farmer tills the soil and there is bread to eat. The profession solely depends upon the monsoons. If they fail life turns into a hell on earth.
You gave us plenty of rain much before did we expect (May 26)
Left us in half way, when we stepped into the field (June 5)
No rain… No water… our misery does reflect (June 21)
Weeks pass by our prayers do not results yield.
The sunny days are no delight. The absence of rain becomes a curse. As mother earth turns warm each day, life on earth goes dry. Each day without rain pushes people into greater difficulties, where every activity feels its pinch.
Days get dry, Come down rain! Goes the cry
The strong migrate, the crop fails
The old stay back with growing hunger they lie
Hear our cry, be merciful your child here wails.
The realization that nothing is in man’s hands has grown strong. All look up to the skies waiting for a shower. The sun, at times, seems to be shining brighter then ever. This time of the year, it should have been pouring cats and dogs and life settles down in their cozy houses with activity restricted to the four walls.
The sun is taking our test
We are doing our best
In rain is our zest
Only you o God have to do the rest
The final words go intense, as the walls of patience are unable to withstand the pressure of misery. The spring of life should visit down lest wretchedness triumphs.
The rich have nothing to say
The poor have no way
The middle class has to pay
All they need is each day this season, a rainy day.
