Puttur, Jun 28: A nineteen-year-old woman who had gone missing from Saturday June 24 evening has now been found murdered by roadside near Ansaruddin yatim khana at Salmara near here on Tuesday June 27 night.
Akshata, daughter of Yashodhamma of Kepulu near Tarigudde here was found dead on Tuesday night. Her mother Yashodhamma who came to the spot has identified her body.
Though nothing is known about her murder and the murderer, suspicion looms large on one Sattar who too had gone missing on the same day. Sattar is a neighbour of Akshata. It is said that both were in love for some time. But after the parents and elders intervened, Akshata had expressed her desire to discontinue her love. But Sattar had been forcing Akshata to marry him. It is also said that he had promised Akshata that he would become a Hindu, if she marries him.
But Akshata had not given a heed to that. She was also frightened about some local leaders of her community who had been opposing her love relationship with Sattar who hails from a Muslim community.
Akshata had left her schooling after her first year of PUC following the death of her father. Her younger brother Bharatraj too had left schooling and was going for work. Akshata had recently joined a voluntary organization for work. It is said that there she used to receive some anonymous calls about which she did not tell with anyone until she received a call in the last week threatening her. When her employer asked about this call, she revealed him about Sattar. She also told that he was forcing her to marry.
Within two days of that call, she went missing. A complaint was filed in this regard in the town police station on Sunday evening. Meanwhile Sattar too had gone missing from his house on Monday. He is yet to be traced.
Now that her dead body is traced near the house, Sattar's involvement has been suspected in the murder. The body was in a semi-decomposed state which indicates that she might have been killed atleast a couple of days ago.
A complaint has already been lodged and police have arrived at the place.
