My responsibility to take everyone along: Modi in victory speech

Vadodara, May 16 (PTI): After a landslide victory, Narendra Modi today reached out to the opposition seeking cooperation of all parties and leaders in running the nation and dedicated himself to serve everyone equally.

In a gracious 45-minute victory speech here, Modi said the government does not belong to any particular party but to all the people of the country. "For a government, no one is a favourite, nor is anyone an alien," he asserted to a cheering crowd of supporters whom he thanked for giving him a victory by 5.70 lakh votes.

Committing himself to running the country in the best spririt of the Constitution, Modi said, "my responsibility is to take everyone along in running the nation." "In a democracy, there are no enemies but only competitors. That competition ends with elections," he said, adding his motto is "sabka sath, sabka vikas (with all, development for all).

Congratulating winners in the Lok Sabha elections and the Assembly elections in some states irrespective of parties, Modi said, "I extend my best wishes to MPs and MLAs of all parties.I hope that I will get their support in taking the country forward."

Apparently referring to recrimination during the campaign, he said he would convert the "love" shown by his opponents into "pure love".

"In a democracy, there are no enemies but only competitors. This competition is the beauty of our democracy," he said, adding "bitterness" is over with the campaign.

"I want to assure the people of the country that for us it is our motto to carry along everyone however much they may oppose us. We will try to ensure that there will be nothing lacking on this front," he said.

BJP has already stated about their stand on Uniform Civil code, Article 370 and Rama Mandir in Ayodhya in their Manifesto. Nothing is hidden by them. Even when Modi tells he is willing to take everyone with him people like you want to stay away... what Modi can do? I am sure, under Modi's rule a healthy trust will build among Hindus, Muslims & other minorities which was not allowed by congress and people like you.

Mr Modi is mature enough to know the importance of this overwhelming mandate and he has a long term plan to rule for 2 to 3 terms, which he can do provided he works for the development and progress of the country and not giving weight to any petty politics. Hopfully good times for the country is round the corner.

BJP and RSS have made their intentions clear in the manifesto and the democracy has approved it with Majority. You don't have to worry about BJP and RSS now. People of India have given their verdict. You please bother about how to get your regional party congress into national level in a decade or so because currently our numbers in UP alone is more than your UPA. That speaks the might of Modi/Amit Shah /RSS. We believe in inclusive growth not reservation growth like congress. We don't talk about minority majority any more. We will like a one nation ahead and don't bother about some....... Barking.

You have a right approach, Mr. Prime Minister elect. You have begun on a very positive note.

As I am used to a political system here and back home your victory speech matches the usual victory speech of US President Elect and Indian Congress Presidents concessions, in her news conference are in par with US President Election Loser's graciousness. This reminds me of 1960 US election debate (Kennedy versus Nixon) in which President Kennedy says "... India is a new largest democracy of the East, we are the oldest democracy of the west I will work with Indian new democracy...". Notable fact is that, There are many similarities with US and Indian system.

Modi is a powerful leader and he will work for the inclusive growth. He will not entertain the extremist elements both in the Hindus and the Muslims.

Even if the RSS have the remote control on Modi, still Modi cannot go against the constitution and the law of the land. It is better that he work for the welfare of all the citizens of India. United we stand and divided we fall.
    Jai Hind!

If you carry every one with you RSS will throw you out ... Another important thing is RSS kept all it's controversial issues moratorium ,like Unified Civil Code, Special Status for Kashmir,Ram Mandir etc to the day when it will get absolute majority...That day already came and certainly they will push and ensure to pass the bill in LS/RS.But if you speak about consensual politics, then RSS/Sanghparivars will isolate you. On the other hand the tag of Genocide will not desert you till your life.

    Dear Ismail
Regarding the tag if geonocide , I guess what opinion a few fanatics has on Modi will not make any difference on his daily life which is dedicate d t the services of Our great nation. You have tried this in the past and failed and will fail in future also if you continue your smear campaign against Modi. Democracy has judged Modi and given its verdict rants of a few unsatisfied souls will not stop the elephant from marching ahead
