Five killed, four missing in China mine accident


Beijing, May 25 (IANS): Five people were killed and four others reported missing after an explosion in a mine Sunday in China's Guizhou province, authorities said.

The accident happened in the afternoon at the state-owned Yushe Coal Mine in Shuicheng County when the gas collected in the coal mine exploded, Xinhua reported. 

A total of 240 miners were working underground when the explosion occurred. However, 231 miners managed to escape.

Five bodies were found by rescuers and search for the four missing miners was underway.
