Udupi: Pillion rider dies after two bikes collide

Udupi, May 27: In a tragic accident between two motor bikes, a pillion rider breathed his last after succumbing to severe injuries. The incident took place on Sunday May 25 night on the bypass road near Vidhyaniketana school. 

It is learnt that the pillion rider after being hospitalized, was declared dead on Monday May 26 morning by one of the private hospitals in Udupi. The deceased was identified as Shantarama Kini (48), a  resident of Kaup city. 

Kini and Srikanth Prabhu were on their way to Marigudi of Venkatramana temple, while the bike they rode on collided with another bike that was arriving from the opposite direction. The accident took place near Janardhana circle located at the bypass road. 

Injured Kini was immediately taken to the hospital. However, he was unable to respond to the treatment and was declared dead by the hospital authorities.

Kini was a cadre of the BJP and was well-known for his committed work towards the party.

A complaint has been registered at the Kaup police station and investigations are underway.
