Mangalore, May 28: "An innocent citizen of our country, Kabeer was shot dead by a staff of a security agency of our country. This is a major tragedy and a violation of human rights," said Suresh Bhat Barebail.

Addressing a press meet at the press club on Wednesday May 28, Barebail said, "The government has declared the compensation amount, but it has still not reached the hands of his parents. The case has been handed over to the CBI and a FIR has been registered against Naveen Naik, the ANF personnel who carried out the fake encounter."

"With all these issues, in order to implement pressure on the government to quicken the process, a Kabeer Nyaya Okkoota has been formed to stage a massive protest rally and demand for his rights on Friday May 30 at the DC"s office in the city," he added.

"The incident has given way for many suspicions. Another tragedy is that the family members who had been to the hospital to get his mortal remains were also reportedly attacked by some groups. To fight against all this injustice and to demand justice for Kabeer and his family, this protest has been organized under the banner of ‘Kabeer Nyaaya Okkoota,’ which is the culmination of more than 20 associations," he said.

"The protest rally will be inaugurated at Jyothi circle by a well known women rights fighter Gulabi Bilimale at 2.30 pm  and the meet has been organized in front of the DC's office at 4 pm. Various associations and speakers are to take part in this massive protest," he concluded.

P B Desa and others were present on the occasion.
