Mumbai, June 10: Nadoja Baragooru Ramachandrappa, professor, well-known scholar, littérateur and critic released a book written by Dr Bharath Kumar Polipu, a well-known dramatist and vice president of Karnataka Sangha, Mumbai on research of dramatics written with help from Karnataka Sangha, Mumbai on Saturday afternoon June 7.
Describing the book, professor Baragooru said, "Though the book is titled Mumbai Kannada Rangabhoomi, it covers not only the dramatics of Karnataka but the entire country. The chapter on dramatist philosophy and commercialization has attracted my attention. It is very informative. I have come to know many things about Mumbai dramatists after reading the book. The book written after vast research on the subject makes us proud. Some of the information on the subject had remained a secret."
"The books published under the guidance of Dr G N Upadhya are soul searching. May the book be recognized by everybody," he said.
Dr Ishwar Alevooru, editor of Akshaya monthly introduced the book. Shailaja Bharathkumar, Rachit Bharathkumar and master Rachana Bharathkumar were on the dais. Dr Bharathkumar Polipu remembered his attachment to dramatists and service and thanked those who made the book possible.
Dr Da Ra Bendre lectures 2014 were held in the beginning of the programme and professor Baragooru presented them. The programme was presided over by Prakash G Burde, president of Karnataka Sangha.
Head of the department of Kannada of Mumbai University Dr G N Upadhya welcomed and gave the key note address. Sushila Devadiga led the prayer. Srinivasa Jokatte and Malati Chandrakanth introduced the guests.
Dr Poornima R Shetty prepared the lectures. Honorary secretary Omdas Kannangar welcomed, compeered the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.
