Pune, Jun 11 (FP) : The Pune police on Tuesday arrested Hindu Rashtra Sena president Dhananjay Desai in connection with the murder of Muslim techie Mohsin Sadiq Shaikh, 28, in Pune on June 2. Desai had been arrested by the Pune Cantonment police and the Loni Kalbhor police station previously for circulating inflammatory material in March.

According to a report in The Times of India, senior police officials said the 17 arrested suspects indicated that Desai had instigated them "to launch a series of violent protests after objectionable posts were put up on a social media site".

Desai had been arrested on June 2 for disseminating inflammatory material. the murder took place later the same day. Desai has now been arrested under Section 120 (b) — (criminal conspiracy) read with Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. referred to as Bhai by his followers. Dhananjay Desai appears to have started this group when he was just 14 years old.

Interestingly Desai was also invited for a Hindu Rashtra Convention in Goa in 2013. The section of talks for which he was invited dealt with 'Retaliating the attack of Islam', and he spoke on "Increasing Jihadi mentality among the Muslims and Safety measure".

Some fanatics are dreaming even after 65 years of independence about India becoming one religion state like Pakistan, Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan without even bothering about the authoritarian nature and draconian laws, violence in these nations. Unfortunately we have qualified(If not educated) sympathizers for these people including in this forum. India has grown so modern that the new generation is just interested about free and good life, little bothered about culture and religion.

Fanaticism and extremism coupled with extreme jingoism is a cancer ...it spreads rapidly....once it spread it is difficult to douse the flame....This bigotry actions from all these fanatics need to be curbed from its bud itself...If you give soft corner to any type of fanaticism ...it will grow much stronger...If you feed them ...then you will reach the state of pakistan....what it has fed is eating them within...Dont feed the snake it will sting you when it grows well ....We need to have zero tolerance to communalism and terrorism...

Desai is much less at fault. He was fed this ideology, he was encouraged when he did small time offenses, he was given prime time to address larger gatherings such as goa, was probably bailed out during earlier offenses.

With all the above, he was given to understand, that he is doing service to mother land or cause of Hinduism.

So, partly all those involved in rearing a Desai to this stage are responsible.

It is same for all criminals, terrorists, fanatics. Initially a wrong ideology is fed, small encouragement is given, lots of tolerance is shown, bigger platform and publicity provided. By this time, the individual becomes formidable and wants large action.

If the police take strict action now, the strong/moderate hindus will be offended.
If the police take no action, then affected & their sympathizers will be offended.

The police will have to tread cautiously (Police is Party in our case).

A young life is lost for a null cause. There are offensive individuals across regions/caste/languages. These are to be handled through democratic administration. It really shows the maturity of the country.

Muslim countries tolerated jehadis, and now they are out of hand.
India has to learn a lesson from this and not fall into the trap, from which others are fighting to come out from.

Law is equal for all no matter if the person is HINDU or MUSLIM, because we lives as INDIANS and INDIANS want UNITY in DIVERSITY to build our strong Nation.

Do you expect that this leader will be given a harsh treatment by these RSS police. It will never happen, instead he will be given Chicken Biryani and public facilitations. No use of day dreaming. Any govt ( UPA / NDA )will be with the goondas side. This is our culture and ideology.

Only Arrest is not final. So many leaders are like him got arrested are in higher positions now.

He shouldn't get bail.and Death penalty should be given to him.
Then only justice will be given to the victim's family.

This is a perfect case of Hate crime, nothing else. Responsible should be booked with a Harshest possible chargesheet and sent inside.

Also all the Hate Mongers should learn form the incident that its Sadiq Shaikh who pay the price for for the Hate messages & derogatory statements they make out of Frustration. Perpetrators or the people responsible for the origin of such images or statements should also be arrested and booked for Murder, because its because of them a innocent Muslim youth lost his life and the society has to bend their heads in shame for such a act.

    Rajesh Shetty,
Sure, All hate mongers must be punished whoever it may be. But we need to identify the real culprit. There are incidents in past where Ramsene members hoisted Pakistani flag to malign Muslims and to create tension. We cannot rule out the possibility of FB postings by Hindu Rashtra Sene members to create tension.
