Sr Pramitha Cutinha appointed secretary to Bishop of Udupi

Media Release

Udupi, June 11: Sr Pramitha Cutinha UFS has been appointed as the new secretary to the Bishop of Udupi.

The latest in the series of actions of empowering the laity, Bishop Dr Gerald Lobo of Udupi diocese has appointed Sr Pramitha Cutinha of the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation as his secretary. She was administered the oath of office and secrecy at a simple ceremony held in the chapel of Bishop’s House, Udupi on Monday June 9.

It is customary that Bishops appoint priests as secretaries. But Bishop Gerald, as usual, has chosen to walk the untrodden path and appointed a sister as secretary.

In the hierarchy of the Catholic Church, religious sisters fall under the category of lay persons. Sr Pramitha hails from Bola in the vicinity of Panir (Derlakatte) parish.
