Mumbai, Jun 12 (Zee News): With just days left for the monsoon to hit the western metropolis, high tidal waves have led to water-logging in low lying areas of Mumbai on Thursday.

Roads near Gateway of India and some areas in Mahim, Worli sea face and some parts of Dadar were flooded when hide tide measuring 4.56 meters hit the shores at 11:30 am today.

The high tide would get bigger tomorrow at 4.79 meters.

However, Mumbaikars will have to wait for monsoon rains for some days - it should have reached on June 10. It has reached Ratnagiri and will take a couple of more days to travel to Mumbai.

Under influence of the severe cyclonic storm 'Nanauk' over Arabian Sea, the south west monsoon will progress along the west coast of Maharashtra and Gujarat during next 48 hours.

The IMD has predicated below normal monsoon this year.

Unbelievable. I was born and brought up in Mumbai and now settled down in New York, but I have never seen such high tides and flooding. So Mumbaikars be vigil, careful and please do not venture near the sea shores as high tides are unpredictable.

With rising sea levels due to global warming and glacier melting, soon the sea will swallow our lands, nature's way of teaching us a good lesson, just think of so many lives lost, killing our own, cheating people for a piece of land, now pay for it.

I am sure if the scene continues no wonder we get a news as a huge number of youths washed away in to sea. Look at the stupid folks there standing as if they are watched as heros. actually they watched as mad to stand in front of such giant waves. With in no seconds they may get washed away. Then we blame govt, authorities and all. Clear evident on how our youth ( few ) are so stupid to act liek that.
