Mangalore, Jul 24: Tulu film industry which is still in its infancy state has something to cheer now. P N Ramchandra directorial film "Sudda" has been selected as the best Indian film at the eighth "Ocean - Cinefan" film festival held at New Delhi.
Another Kannada film, "Nayi Neralu" directed by Girish Kasarvally has been awarded best jury film award.
Sudda film is based on "Bojja" play written by Narayan Shetty Nandalike. The film depicts the feudal system which was prevalent in the coastal district in 1960's and 1970s. It also dwells lengthily on the gradual fall of feudal system in the following years and change of attitude in the society as well as families in this period.
Nayi Neralu is based on S L Byrappa's novel and largely dwells on the generation gap between the 3 generations and social values which evolve in this period.
