Mangalore, Aug 6: Nellu Permanur's comedy play 'Bongo' was the star attraction at the monthly theatre (Meinyali Manchi) of Kalangann here on Aug 6.

Built around a family environment with conflicting views towards life, the play strikes hard at the existence of abortion in the society. An enjoyable comedy also places the dark side of the plight of a singer.

In the hands of young director Wilson D'Souza Kulshekar, the play has taken a leaf from the Tulu theatre. The stage settings have been borrowed from the Tulu theatre and the music and light effects too.

Bongo also had two soul rendering songs for which the music was composed and played by Vanil Permanur and Chandrahas Thokottu.

The play was also an attempt to break the myth that an artiste becomes a pauper due to his profession. However it highlights the other side of the life of an artiste.

Miss Daijiworld, Melita Pinto, popular for her exceptional talent not only in Konkani theatre but also in several other fields was one of the star attractions of the play.

With this play, Kalangan has been successful in bringing up the talent of young, enthusiast director Wilson by offering him a befitting stage.
