Five people crushed to death in Bengal


Kolkata, Aug 4 (IANS): Five people who were sleeping beneath a truck were crushed to death Monday after a bus rammed into the vehicle in West Bengal's Murshidabad district, police said.

The incident happened early Monday on National Highway 34 in Raghunathganj in the district, some 275 km from Kolkata.

"Due to rain, the deceased were sleeping under a broken-down truck. While three people died on the spot, two others later succumbed to injuries at a hospital. Eight people were also injured in the accident," a police officer said.
