Civil society groups to train ICDS workers

New Delhi, Aug 18 (IANS): In a bid to train those working with marginalised women, civil society groups Monday started a three-day workshop in Bangalore for Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) workers.

National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD) and the Southern Regional Centre of NIPCCD together organised the first ever workshop.

The workshop brings together 35 representatives of three community-based organisations working with highly marginalised women to train them on IICDS programme and sensitise 45 officials, providers and functionaries about the vulnerabilities of these communities.

The workshop includes sessions on different components of ICDS programme plus a field visit to anganwadi centres to familiarise the participants about the working of the centres and the day-to-day challenges faced by the providers.
