Mangalore, Sep 8: Children love this feast because of the colourful flowers, the sweets, the sugarcane and the joy in every ceremony which cannot be found in any other feast. With the same motivation, thousands of children, dressed in their best offered flowers to infant Mary on her feast.

Mangaloreans celebrated the feast of Nativity of Mother Mary with great religious fervour.
The churches wore a colourful look and every child and even few adults joined in offering flowers to Mother Mary.

A pleasant morning that it was, the first corn was blessed and brought in procession singing the traditional hymn “Let's all get together.”

The smiles on the faces of the little ones while receiving their share of juicy sugarcane cannot be expressed with words.
With the blessed corn and sugarcane every family returned home to share the family meal.
