Mumbai, Sep 8: Mumbai was placed on high alert following a blast in Maharashtra's textile town of Malegaon on Friday, police said.
Security had been stepped up at entry and exit points, at vital installations and places of worship, police said.
In view of the July 11 serial train blasts in the city, security forces had already been on alert.
At least five persons were killed and 24 others injured in a blast outside a mosque in Malegaon on Friday.
