Udupi, September 16: “Government has provided Rs 25 lakh for the scientific study of Panchagavya and work on this has already started at Bangalore’s Animal Husbandry Science College,” District In Charge Minister Dr V S Acharya has informed.

He was speaking after participating in the first anniversary celebrations of Punarnava Ayurveda Clinic situated in premises of Udupi Kunibettu Acharya ENT Hospital on Friday.

He informed that it had been decided to set up a Panchakarma unit at a cost of Rs 8 crore at Government Ayurveda College of Mysore.

Shri Pejavara Mutt seer Shri Vishwesha Theertha Swaamiji inaugurated Panchagavya Treatment Unit.

Sandhya S Pai, Managing Editor of Taranga, said that although the Indian medicine system has history of thousands of years, a sense of prejudice and superstition have developed around our tradition and beliefs and added that this may be due to foreign rule and slavery.

Sandhya Pai also opined that there was a need to record all the effects of medical treatment.

She also said that eight methods of Ashtanga Hrudaya would finally culminate at cleanliness. For present, we do only require 2 percent of the 60,000 daily thoughts that we get in our mind. And all the others are yesterday’s, which are root of diseases.

In her speech, Sandhya Pai stressed the importance of cleanliness in life.

MLA K Raghupathy Bhat and senior scholar Bannanje Govindacharya were present.

Hospital Chief Dr Tanmaya Goswamy welcomed. Kapila Goswamy proposed vote of thanks. Doctor Dr Shrilalitha compered the programme.
