Mangalore, Oct 14: Fr Joseph Morris Shenoy (67), parish priest of Kota, passed away in Fr Muller Hospital here on Saturday evening. He had been admitted after a heart attack.

Originally hailing from Beltangady, born of parents Stanislaus James and Juliana Morris, he had served in various parishes and also as assistant director at Fr Muller Hospital.

He was the brother of Sr Muriel, Sr Theresa, Sr Dorindra, Sr Maria Goretti (all of Apostolic Carmel), the late Celine Rodrigues, Vijay Vincent (Canada), Fr Michael (Carmelite -OCD, Mapuca, Goa), Norbert (formerly of Reserve Bank of India, now settled in Mangalore) and Mary Shenoy-Pereira (teacher, Beltangady).

Funeral service will be held in St Joseph Church, Kota at 10-00 am on Monday, October 16. For those not being able to attend the funeral service because of the distance, a private Requiem Mass will be held at 6-15 am the same morning in Fr Muller Institutions chapel.

Sunil Fernandes, Kota adds

Until his death, he was the parish priest of Kota. The construction of the new chuch building at Kota was planned, executed and completed during his tenure.

He held AA meetings regularly and helped a lot of people to recover from addiction. 

He had also played a major role in developing the Kerekatte St. Antony's shrine when he was the parish priest of Basrur.
