Vadodara, Oct 19: Around 30 Indian fishermen and five boats were captured by Pakistan's Marine Security Agency from the international marine border between Okha and Jakhao ports, Coast Guard officials said on Wednesday.
Sources said the matter is being investigated and further details about the capture of the fishermen on Tuesday were awaited.
Gujarat Fishermen's Association vice-president Jivanbhai Jungi told PTI that Pakistan has continued to capture Indian fishermen and their boats despite the composite dialogue process between the two countries.
With the arrests of the 30 men, the total number of Indian fishermen in Pakistani jails has gone up to 481 and the number of boats seized has risen to 296, he said.
Jungi said he had sent a fax to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to include the release of Indian fishermen and their boats in the agenda for the foreign secretary-level talks between the two countries scheduled to be held in Delhi on November 13-14.
He also requested the president of the Fishermen's Cooperative Society of Pakistan, Ali Mohammad, to take up the release of Indian fishermen and their boats with President Pervez Musharraf before the foreign secretary-level talks.
