Patna, Oct 20:
Professor Matuknath Chaudhary, who hit the headlines for his affair with former student Julie, led a march with some of his students in 'Gandhigiri' style to garland the Patna University vice-chancellor and demand the revocation of his suspension.

Chaudhary, a professor of Hindi at B N College in Patna, was suspended about three months ago by Vice-Chancellor S Ehtashamuddin for taking Julie without authorization to a class where he had delivered a lecture on ‘love’ and for illegally occupying an official flat.

However, Chaudhary's Gandhigiri ended in failure, as Ehtashamuddin was not in his office chamber. The protesters, many sporting Gandhi caps, placed marigold garlands at the entrance of the chamber.

Chaudhary, while speaking to media, said he did not agree with the description of his protest as 'Gandhigiri', a word taken from the Bollywood blockbuster Lage Raho Munna Bhai as the word has a violent connotation.

"Like dadagiri, Gandhigiri has a violent connotation with which a person like me will not like to associate," he said.

Chaudhary, in his 50s, and Julie, who is less than half his age, shot into the limelight when his wife Abha had filed a case against them for adultery and torture.

Abha was shown on TV channels grabbing Julie's hair at a police station and dragging her to the floor, after which a case of assault was registered against her.

Chaudhary found a sympathizer in Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, who had on meeting him said there was nothing wrong in being in love with his former student, but advised him to also care for his wife.
