Mangalore, Dec 10: The prevailing alliance between Congress and Janata Dal (S) is likely to be wound up very soon. The efforts by the BJP to break the alliance appear to have got a fillip with the Congress victory in the Chamundeshwari by-election in Mysore.
District JDS president and former Beltangady MLA Vasant Bangera, who has been opposed to any truck with the BJP, appears to have been overruled by the state party leaders, who have reportedly given a green signal to the new BJP-JDS combine.
Abdulaziz Malar and Sucharita Shetty, owing allegiance to former minister and former MLA Amaranath Shetty and Rajashri Hegde of the Bangera camp, have reportedly been won over by the BJP to sign a letter of consent to support the new alignment. They are said to consented to support also the no-confidence motion against ZP president Mamata S Gatti.
