Kundapur, Jan 3: The fishermen community from Gangolly has decided to join the protest against Nagarjuna Power Plant. The fishermen will stage a road blockade on the National Highway at Trasi.
Under the Nagarjuna Virodhi Horata Samiti, the protest will be held on January 13, said Gangolly Trawl Boat Union president Purushotam.
The effluents will affect the fish and would spell doom to the fishermen, he said adding that power plant will be opposed for its ill-effects on the environment and especially the marine life.
The decision to hold a protest was taken at the meeting of the fishermen held in the office of the association. Nagarjuna Virodhi Horata Samiti president Pramod Madhwaraj was also present at the meeting.
