Udupi, Jan 26: Janshatabdi Express which was of great convenience to the passengers from Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Uttar Kannada districts has been cancelled by Konkan Railway Board.

Opposing this move of the board, a card protest has been started and Udupi Railway Passengers Association has urged the citizens of the three districts to participate in the protest in large numbers by writing as many letters as possible to railway board in English.

The association has pointed that the citizens of these three district have only one train that is Matsyagandha to Mumbai which has only 18 coaches.

On the recommendation of the board president the Janshatabdi was withdrawn with even not considering the fact that the train was very convenient to the citizens of three district from where there are highest number of commuters to Mumbai.

As a part of the protest the association also staged ‘rail roko’ on December 27 at Udupi Railway station. On December 30 a protest was held in Ankola.

To participate in the card protest, protesters can write to the Chairman, Indian Railway Board, Rail Bhavan, New Delhi-110001 and also send a copy of the same to Railway Passengers Association, Veera Hanuman Road Chitpady.
