Muscat, Feb 13: After organizing a memorable “Mangalorean Day 2007” program and bringing together the Mangaloreans living in Muscat at one venue. The Pancha Pandavas (The five Pandavas) of this year’s sports committee, Suraj Rebello, Jerald Mascarenhas, Flavia Menezes, Dolphy Frank and Dolly Gomes, are all set to present two thrilling tournaments on one single day for the members of Mangalorean Catholic Center of the Parish MCCP (Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Ruwi).

As officially announced the annual MCCP Volleyball and Throwball tournament will be held at the Oman Sports Club on Friday February 16.  Eligibility for the volleyball tournament will be all men and boys above class 8 and throwball - ladies and girls above class 8. Registration for men will start at 9.00 am and for ladies at 1.00 pm. Matches will commence immediately after the registration and formation of the teams.

“We had organized a great Mangalorean Day” said one of the senior committee members responsible for the success of recently-held Mangalorean Day 2007 and sports events coordinator, Jerald Mascarenhas. “and it was successful event that was enjoyed by all the members. Now, we have geared up to present one more annual event for our members, that is, volleyball for men and throwball for ladies. I am sure these tournaments also will be successful.”  

The event is sponsored by Simon D’ Souza and Family, Shirva (Bangalore).

“We have good response from our members as of now” said Flavia Menezes, sports secretary of MCCP when daijiworld.com team spoke to her. “It is very important that each member takes an active part in this tournament. We will be serving traditional breakfast, lunch and evening snacks to everyone.”
