Muscat, Mar 22: There is no language more honourable than the mother tongue. It is the moral responsibility of each and every person to preserve heritage of their mother tongue. The necessity to pass on the heritage of the ‘konkani’ language to their future generations has been stressed upon by the ‘Karnataka state best regional film awardee Srinivas Rao Sujeer popularly known as Kasaragodu Chinna.
Recently, Kasargodu Chinna was invited as the chief guest for the dvd release of his Konkani film ‘Ujwadu’ which was held in Muscat, one of the most notable capitals in the Gulf of Oman.
He emphasised on coming up with more and more literature works to strengthen the konkani language which is spoken amongst 42 different tribes and is included in the 8th schedule of Indian constitution.
A well known konkani personality Arbet Balakrishna Kamath inaugurated the dvd release in front of the large crowd which had gathered at Tonse Vivek Pai and Lakshmi Pai’s residence in Al Khuwair region in Muscat. The first copy of the dvd was issued to a well known businessman and an art lover of Tuluva community Shashidhar Shetty. Being the first person to receive the dvd of a konkani film in Gulf of Oman, he proudly said that he also had directed a Tulu film before. He also promised to extend his full support for the Konkani language.
The event was arranged & managed by Manjunath Nayak. The auspicious function started with main guests Shridhar Bhat lighting the lamp followed by prayer and thanks giving by Sachin Kamath, karkala. The programme ended with a delicious feast prepared by the Konkani women.
