Panaji, Mar 5: Two Indian origin Australian students were arrested by Goa police under the charges of killing a waiter at a beach shack, on Sunday evening.

While incident occured on last Friday, both the accused were absconding since then and the state police had launched a massive manhunt. Both were arrrested at Goa airport while trying to board Delhi-bound aircraft.

Amardeep Singh (29) and Jaswinder Singh (26), both on their holidays in the tourist state of Goa, took up a fight at a beach shack. After an initial brawl, both went only to come back later in the night and stabbed waiter on his back, D K Sawant, superintendent of police (north Goa), investigating the offence said.

Police investigations have revealed that both the accused are studying masters of accountancy at Melbourne University. "They had arrived in the state on the same day when incident occured. Fearing arrest, they went into hinding," Sawant said.

The waiter, Dashrath Rathod, 28, hailing from neighbouring Karnataka's Bijapur district, died while being treated at state-owned Goa Medical College and hospital.

The 3000-odd strong state police had launched a massive manhunt to nab the accused who were known to them only by their faces. "We did not know their names or origin.... We had suspected that they were NRIs and hence we laid a trap at the Goa airport," Sawant explained.

The police succeeded in nabbing them while both were trying to board Delhi-bound Spicejet flight. "We had made fool-proof arrangements to ensure that the accused would not be able to leave the state," he stated.
