Bantwal: Four bike-borne miscreants intercept man, rob Rs 8.52 lac at sword-point

Bantwal, Aug 20: In a brazen daylight robbery, a gang of four unidentified men on two bikes intercepted a 40-year-old employee of a cement and iron dealership and robbed him of Rs 8.52 lac at sword-point. The incident took place at Mulkaje Mada in Maninalkur village of Bantwal taluk on Thursday afternoon.

The victim, identified as Mayyadi (40), is an employee at a cement and iron sales firm in the Kannur area of Mangaluru. He was reportedly returning on his motorcycle after collecting business cash from various shops. When he reached Mulkaje Mada around 1 pm while travelling from Kakkepadavu towards Panemangalore, four miscreants on two bikes blocked his path.

Brandishing a sword, the gang threatened Mayyadi and snatched the cash amounting to Rs 8,52,000 before fleeing the scene.

The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Bantwal rural police station. Upon receiving information, police personnel rushed to the spot and conducted an inspection. The Bantwal rural police have registered a case and launched a manhunt to nab the absconding culprits.

Further investigation is underway to trace the accused based on various angles.
