Mangalore, Mar 22: The members of the local unit of Student Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) staged a protest in front of the deputy commissioner’s office here on Wednesday March 21 against the introduction of sex education in CBSE schools.

The members demanded the withdrawal of the order and alleged that the course material prepared for the purpose would worsen the situation. They said that the government should stress on moral education and educate the young on avoiding physical union than practicing safe sex.

They also alleged that the move will corrupt young minds and such things as demonstration of using condoms as included in the syllabus will put wrong kind of thoughts in the young minds.

Instead of how to prevent AIDS by practicing safe sex, the syllabus should focus on moral education which would prevent the problem altogether, they said.

The move will heighten the existing problems by spurring incidents of abuse from teachers, the protestors alleged.
