Udupi, May 30: A woman named Sumana (25) hanged herself from the beams of the roof at her husband's home on the night of Thursday May 28 at Manampady near Hejmady Kody in the taluk. It is thought that she was overcome by emotions over the fact that her husband had pacified her and led her back into the house that day when quarrel had broken out with some neighbours due to misgivings.

Sumana, native of Palli Ninjoor in Karkala taluk, had married Dinesh Bangera from Hejmady Kody over two years back. The couple has a 18-month-old child named Nihan.

Dinesh said both of them had gone to bed together at around 9.45 pm on Thursday. At about 11 pm, he sensed that his wife was not by his side. He got up and looked around for her, and found that Sumana had hanged herself from the beams of the kitchen roof by using the veil of her churidar.

Inquest of the body was conducted in the presence of the tahsildar. Padubidri police registered a case of unnatural death and took up investigation.
