Sydney, June 29 (IANS): A man on trial for stabbing a cab driver 13 times in Australia's New South Wales state, blamed horror movies for inciting violence, the media reported on Monday.
Luke William Woods, 35, is on trial for stabbing taxi driver Neal Kent, 71, on December 30, 2013 after drinking 12 beers, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.
Woods testified in court that he watched the graphic and violent movies "Friday the 13th", "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and "Wrong Turn" on the day of the stabbing.
"They gave me a taste for blood," he said, adding "I had the taste for killing, more killing."
Pleading guilty, Woods said: "I was very drunk and angry with the world, watching these movies was making me want to emulate that stuff."
Carrying a 30-cm knife, Woods ventured into the city with the intention of robbery.
When he could not find a suitable victim, he got into Kent's cab telling him to drive to the Surry Hills suburb.
