Panaji, May 15: As we had said earlier, 'Sobit Goem, Sundor Goem' appears to sound nice on the ears only in songs, at tourism seminars, promotional brochures and the like.

The flipside has a different story to tell. These pictures say it all.

Trees are being used to convey the message of 'Parking prohibited'..if the people are violating the rules, why should the trees suffer?; second pic shows one of the many bent street lamp-posts in Panaji

The vacant and deserted life-guard stand at the Calangute beach

But then again, as already mentioned once earlier, this malaise of lack of civic sense, government apathy and a general 'chalta hai' attitude appears to be a national phenomenon, not characteristic of Goa alone.

Should the citizens of any part of the country take solace from the fact that the story is the same elsewhere too?
