New Delhi, Aug 21: Two alleged shooters linked to the Himanshu Bhau gang were injured and arrested following an exchange of fire with Delhi Police in the Bakkarwala area on Thursday, police sources said.

The encounter took place during a joint operation by the Delhi Police Crime Branch and Rohtak Police after the teams received information that the suspects were allegedly heading to the area to carry out a targeted killing.

Acting on the information, the police teams intercepted a Mahindra Thar in Bakkarwala on suspicion. The driver allegedly attempted to escape, but the vehicle met with an accident.

The two occupants reportedly abandoned the vehicle and opened fire at the police team. The suspects fired around eight rounds, following which the police retaliated in self-defence, according to police sources.

Both suspects sustained bullet injuries and were apprehended before being shifted to a hospital for treatment. Police said two Glock pistols were recovered from their possession.

One of the injured suspects was identified as 19-year-old Sameer, a resident of Rohtak. The identity of the second suspect has not yet been disclosed.

Police are investigating the intended target of the alleged killing, the source of the weapons and the possible involvement of other members of the gang.
