Mangalore, May 20: All India Radio (AIR) is organizing a music competition in an effort to unearth and encourage the upcoming talent here on August 13 to August 31.

According to the press release the competition will be held in two rounds, the preliminary rounds will be held at the respective AIR station.

 Second round for Carnatic music will be held in Chennai and New Delhi respectively and each contestant will have to pay the entrance fee of Rs 100 through Money Order drawn in the name of the respective AIR station director. Applications should be submitted with the Money Order and the contestant should be between the age of 16 and 23 as on June 30.

Graded artistes performing on AIR and those talents who have already undergone the voice test are not eligible to participate at the competition.

The competition will be held under Carnatic Classical, light music, folk songs, Hindustani classical and Hindustani light music categories. At the same time competitions will also be held under the Hindustani singing and Carnatic instrumental categories.
