Mangalore, May 24: JD (S) leader Y S V Datta here expressed fear about proxy voting by Congress at Ullal by-election and said that he would complain to election commission in this regard quite well in advance.

Speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday May 24 evening he said that while campaigning at Ullal, the party observed that, many of the voters are not there in their houses. They left houses for employment or any other purposes. Congress has listed these persons’ name and would arrange for proxy voting, in their name.

Congress will bring men from Kerala, for this purpose. Hence, every vehicle coming from Kerala should be inspected thoroughly during election time. On the other hand, the election commission should compel all the voters to bring their photo identity. If the commission allows ration cards for identity, there are all possibilities of proxy voting since the ration card contains only the photograph of head of the family, he said.

At the same time he informed that, chief minister H D Kumaraswami will campaign at Ullal constituency on behalf of JD (S) candidate from May 25 to May 27 afternoon.

Commenting about the adoption of Ullal constituency by BJP, he said that, both BJP and Congress have ruled this constituency. But, they did nothing. Adopting a constituency means, the constituency has no father and mother. In the words of Yadiyurappa, it is clear that, both BJP and Congress have made Ullal orphan, he said sarcastically.

He also denied the friendly fight with BJP and said that the party has taken election seriously. There is a positive environment towards the party in the constituency owing to chief minister's stay in the villages.

Former minister Amaranath Shetty, JD (S) district president Balaraj Rai, JD (S) candidate Abubakkar Natekal and others were present at the press conference.
